Freedom From
Mixed-Media (Image Transfer, Acrylic) on Cotton Paper
14 ¼” x 10 ¼”
Part of my ongoing series exploring media, desire, and perception, Freedom From centers on a transferred image of a model who appears poised, confident—free. But as I worked, I found myself questioning what that freedom really meant. Free from what? Was there empowerment in their pose, in their presence? Or was it something more unsettling—another cog in a machine that turns people into symbols of desire, built to serve an economy that feeds on image and illusion?
The questions didn’t stop with the figure. I turned them inward. Even as I live without literal freedom, I experience moments—creating art, laughing with friends—that feel real and expansive. But are they? Am I living with freedom within, or just learning to survive inside another system, one that shapes behavior and identity in ways we don’t always see? This piece is about that uncertainty. The appearance of freedom—and the murky space between image and truth.
** Please note: All paper works are unmatted and without frame. Images are here so you can get an idea of artwork size and possible ways to display in your home.
