Economic Freedom
Mixed-Media (Newspaper, Water Soluble Oil Paint, Oil Pastel) on Canvas
14” x 11”
I began with the stock section of a newspaper—an abstract symbol of success, wealth, and the version of freedom I’ve been told to chase. Cold numbers, rising and falling like tides I’ve never had the chance to ride. Over that sterile foundation, I painted two lovers locked in an embrace. Their connection is a direct counterpoint to the rigid logic of capitalism—intimate, soft, human. I used oil pastel and paint to bring warmth and texture, to speak to a kind of wealth that isn’t transactional. This piece is about contrasting currencies: money and love, systems and souls, the freedom to have and the freedom to feel.
** Please note: All canvas works are unstretched and without frame. Images are here so you can get an idea of painting size and possible ways to display in your home.
