Where the Wild Things Are
Mixed Media (Image Transfers, Water Soluble Oil)
20” × 24”
The primary contact I have with women these day is through the myriad of fashion magazines that find themselves in a prison. They hint at an aspect of society that I am no longer able to participate in and have been far removed from. Due to this, my understanding of women has become more mythical and surreal. For this painting, I chose images that represented women's sexuality and their power derived from it. Through a process I discovered myself, I removed the ink from these magazines and transferred them on to a canvas. I then painted a landscape that lent itself to my feelings of fear and longing inspired from such images.
** Please note: All canvas works are unstretched and without frame. Images are here so you can get an idea of painting size and possible ways to display in your home.
